MicroPilot Proud to Sponsor Student UAV Competition
May 6, 2003
The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced its First Annual Student Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Competition to take place on July 17-20 at Webster Field in Lexington Park Virginia. Teams from prestigious academic institutions from North America and possibly abroad will compete in this inaugural event.
The goal is to stimulate and foster interest in this innovative technology and encourage careers in the field. The competition challenges the students to design, fabricate and demonstrate a system capable of completing a specific and independent aerial operation.
Sponsoring the competition are MicroPilot, Northrop Grumman, BAI and John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. MicroPilot will provide a free MP2000 autopilot system to each competitive team. The system includes a flight control computer, a servo expansion board, a GPS receiver and antenna, a connector kit and the HORIZONmp ground control software.
Dave Wakeman Business Development Manager stated:
"MicroPilot is pleased to sponsor a competition that challenges the youth of today to be leaders in the UAV world of tomorrow. We look forward to seeing the results in July and we wish all teams the best of luck.”
