MicroPilot Congratulates Virginia Commonwealth University and Will Continue to Sponsor the Third Annual AUVSI Student UAV Competition

Congratulations to Virginia Commonwealth University, winner of the Second Annual Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Student Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Competition that took place on June 24-26, 2004 at Webster Field in St. Inigoes, Maryland. The nine teams that competed were Cornell University, North Carolina State, Virginia Commonwealth University, Santa Clara University, Polytechnic University of New York, Texas A&M, University of Texas at Arlington, Istanbul Technical University, Mississippi State and the results were:
- First Place: Virginia Commonwealth University
Second Place: Istanbul Technical University
Third Place: Tie – Texas A&M and Santa Clara University
- Best Paper: Texas A&M
Best Flight: Virginia Commonwealth
Safety Award: Texas A&M

The Third Annual AUVSI Student UAV Competition will take place June 30 to July 3at Webster Field in St. Inigoes, Maryland. As the official autopilot sponsor, MicroPilot will provide, at a sponsorship rate, the MP2x28g autopilot system and XTENDERmp software development kit to each competitive team. The MP2x28g system includes a flight control computer, a servo expansion board, a GPS receiver and antenna, a connector kit and the HORIZONmp ground control software.
