MicroPilot Upgrades Drone Autopilots
MicroPilot rolls out upgraded versions of their MP2028 and MP1028 autopilots. The g2 versions offer a more powerful microprocessor and improved calibration.
December 6, 2014 - Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada – MicroPilot, world leader in designing and manufacturing of professional-grade autopilots for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), releases new versions of two of their popular autopilot solutions. The most significant upgrade for the MP1028g2 and MP2028g2 is the ability to fly multi-rotor in addition to fixed-wing drones. With this introduction, MicroPilot’s entire family of autopilots can now fly both fixed-wing and multi-rotor drones.
The MP2028g2 provides functionality and pricing appropriate for intermediate-level systems. Additionally, this autopilot weighs only 24 grams, including sensors and GPS receiver. The MP2028g2 is calibrated over the most common operating temperature ranges.
MicroPilot’s other g2 product, the MP1028g2, is the perfect autopilot for entry-level designs where cost is the main concern. The MP1028g2 offers basic temperature calibration of all sensors. Important to note, the MP1028g2 is temperature calibrated, unlike typical entry-level autopilots.
“The MP1028g2 and MP1028g2 provide UAV manufacturers with the critical features they need,” says Howard Loewen, MicroPilot President. “For starters, the Settings Lock feature protects our customers’ intellectual property. And as always, our autopilots are extremely configurable so our customers can differentiate their products from their competitors.”
What’s more, MicroPilot has upgraded both the MP1028g2 and MP2028g2to a faster microprocessor. Sensor calibration has also improved as a result of MicroPilot’s newly upgraded calibration chamber. The MP1028g2 and MP2028g2 are both downward compatible with MicroPilot’s MP2128g2 and MP2128HELI autopilots. Additionally, all autopilots in MicroPilot’s family of autopilots share the same form factor allowing UAV manufacturers to easily adapt their product offering for a variety of price points and functionality.
All MicroPilot autopilots are assembled in an ISO9001 certified production facility.
Additionally, HORIZONmp, MicroPilot’s popular ground control station software is included at no cost with each autopilot. Particularly helpful, HORIZONmp has version-specific built-in software-in-the-loop simulators.
