Merrill UAS Auto-Piloted by MicroPilot Gains Experimental Airworthiness Certification in US Merrill Aviation and Defense was recently issued a special Experimental Airworthiness Certification for its UAS, The Torrent. This system, flown by MicroPilot autopilot technology, can now fly legally in designated US airspace.
January 5, 2015 - Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada – The Torrent is the first unmanned aerial system (UAS) in the Great Lakes States (Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota) to be issued an Experimental Airworthiness Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). With this certification, The Torrent, a product of Merrill Aviation and Defense, can now conduct product development flights, crew and customer training, customer demonstrations, and pilot training within designated airspace.
