The world’s official multi-discipline air sporting event showcased top international air sport athletes who gathered to compete for the prestigious World Air Games Champion title. June 20, 2009 - Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada – MicroPilot’s premier autopilot successfully took flight at the 2009 FAI World Air Games in Turin, Italy this June. This bi-annual aerosport show made its third run in 2009, making it the largest and most prestigious sport aviation event in the world. Three hundred athletes from 41 countries participated in 21 separate events. The show provided aerosport enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to see a variety of aerosport competitions in one location. Spectators followed aircraft pilots' every move on screens (live on location) or remotely via the Internet. Telemetry transmitted from the onboard MP2128g via radio modems made this viewing possible. MicroPilot’s MP2128g was the autopilot of choice for ProS3srl’s UAV, the Evolution. This small scale unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flew during the opening ceremonies to generate aerial video for spectators. The MP2128g navigated the Evolution through a predefined course based on the MP2128g’s onboard GPS system. The MP2128g is a feature-rich autopilot solution for high-performance miniature UAVs. Its software makes it easy to change flight configuration, analyze flight performance and model airframes for simulations. In addition, the MP2128g’s joystick functions provide long range manual control for versatile flight management. Despite its minute size and low weight, this autopilot includes GPS waypoint navigation with altitude and airspeed hold. Moreover, MicroPilot’s open architecture offers fully autonomous launch and recovery, sophisticated scripting language, and flexible communications architecture. The MP2128g also includes robust ground control station software. About MicroPilot With 600 clients in 60 countries, MicroPilot is the world leader in miniature autopilots for UAVs and MAVs.
